What People Say
Have a look below and read what some of our lovely cyclists think of what we do for them and the community.
I cannot recommend SimplyCycyling enough, all my family love it from my 3-year-old niece to my 70-year-old father-in-law. The selection of cycles is great and staff really friendly and helpful. You won’t find a place with more smiling faces in Manchester!

Simply Cycling….”simply the best” for inclusive bike riding. We have the best relationship with staff. Helen and Charlie are polite, kind and more importantly they are friendly and inviting. Simply cycling staff have a great understanding of service users’ needs and treat everyone with compassion, dignity, and respect. Thank you

I have been a volunteer with Simply Cycling for nearly three years now starting when I stopped working towards the end of the Covid lockdown. I help out at Wythenshawe, Longford Park, and Thursday rides out, leading the occasional ride on a Tuesday or Wednesday. At the track I get bikes out and pack them away at the end of the session, help people choose bikes, adjust saddles, refit chains, load, and secure wheelchairs onto the platform bikes. Sometimes I will also cycle people round the track. It is incredibly rewarding to see people enjoying themselves, take part in activities whatever their level of need and become a more visible part of society. The weekly ride outs are a chance to go a bit further and develop fitness, confidence, and leadership among the more active service users. We usually ride 15-20 miles with a coffee and cake (essential!) stop. Occasionally we venture further afield with overnight stays (Blackpool, Bakewell, Conway) and I’ve just come back from a four-day trip to Majorca. Seeing the lads negotiate airports, a foreign environment and culture – riding on the wrong side of the road, food, sunshine!) was just a fantastic experience. Simply Cycling is a truly inspirational and welcoming environment for riders of our abilities and volunteers alike, the staff are great, and I look forward to helping every week whatever the weather.

My son Daniel (Dan) started to attend Simply Cycling at the age of 5 at Longford Park. At the time Dan was recovering from meningitis and had very little coordination, balance and speech. With the help of the team at Longford we came up with solutions to help Dan cycle.
He started of riding on a 2 wheel bike with stabiliser. With a member of the team pushing him around the track. We noticed that Dan was getting so much enjoyment out of riding so we thought we would make the Sunday afternoon a regular visit. We spent many a wet Sunday afternoon there but we did it to help Dan achieve something that the professionals said would not be possible.
Dan at the age of 7 moved onto a 3 wheel trike. At this stage Dan was starting to learn how to control his bike. He found this difficult as there was a lot of distractions and sometimes we did have a crash but he always got back on.
We started to notice that Dan speech was also improving and part of the reason was when he was at the track he had to communicate with the team what bike he wanted. The team always spoke to Dan direct asking him questions that he could answer himself. After time Dan started to make peers at the track not only with team members of simply but also with other riders.
At the age of 10 we went to the track and Dan asked to go on a 2 wheeler bike independently I was sure he would not have the technique or the balance to do this. A team member said to me let him do it and I will support him. I was amazed he had the courage to do it but also it was great to see Simply Cycling having confidence in him. After 1 lap Dan was riding independently and going full speed.
Dan attends Simply cycling still 15 years after first going to Longford park. Dan loves his bike riding and has built up a great bunch of friends. He now enjoys short breaks away with simply cycling and during the school holidays enjoys the ride outs and yes we still go to Longford on a Sunday.
Simply cycling is not all about cycling , they do so much more. They build a young person’s confidence, they encourage independence, awareness , speech , and most of all FUN.
Thank you Simply Cycling from your number 1 supporter DAN THE MAN
