Meet the Trustees

Liz Clarke
Liz Clarke has been the Chair of Simply Cycling since June 2011. She was the founder of BikeRight!, which became the largest Cycle Training Organisation in the UK and still delivers Bikeability to 1000’s of children every year. BikeRight! supported Simply Cycling to become a thriving charity which now delivers its services in 3 locations across Greater Manchester to over 500 clients every week. Liz retired from BikeRight! In March 2018, and is wholly committed to Simply Cycling in its mission to build a community where cycling is accessible and enjoyable for everyone regardless of ability, age or background. In 2012 Liz cycled from Lands’ End to John O Groats To raise funds for a specially adapted side by side bike. She aims to repeat this in 2026 – at a more leisurely pace but with the same goal of raising funds for a specialist bike.

Geoff Wood
My name is Geoff Wood and I have lived in Chorlton for many years. I am now retired and have volunteered at Simply Cycling for over 10 years. I enjoy seeing cyclists, both children and adults, having a great time riding the many types of bikes available. I have been a trustee of the charity for a few years and believe that my contributions to the running of Simply Cycling have helped to fulfill its charitable purpose.

Gill
I’m Gill I have been a trustee of Simply Cycling since March 2022. I retired from the NHS in 2016 and although I was cycling before then, retirement allowed me to cycle more frequently. I join the Thursday rides regularly. I have experience of running a charity, being involved in one we set up while I was working. I am now a governor of a school in Manchester for pupils with special needs.

Dave
I’m Dave, retired and have been volunteering at Simply Cycling for just over three years. I’m delighted to become a trustee of this excellent charity and use my time to help support and guide the organisation. I’m a keen cyclist, riding one of my bikes most days and want to encourage everyone to get on a bike when they can

John
Hi im John I’m here to act in Simply Cycling’s best interest. With other trustees, to ensure that SC is carrying out the purpose for which it was set up and for no other purpose. To help plan what SC will do and what it wants to achieve. To help promote how SC benefits the community by carrying out its purpose. To ensure that SC complies with its governing document.

Lynn
Hey everyone, I’m Lynn, as a Simply Cycling volunteer for over 2 years, I decided to become a charity Trustee to help the organisation achieve its purpose of providing fully inclusive cycling for all people, irrespective of their age and ability. I enjoy meeting new people, being part of a great team, promoting Simply Cycling’s health and wellbeing activities, and assisting with decision making, to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness as an organisation.
